Tan France

Tan France, born Tanveer Safdar, is a British-American fashion designer and television personality best known as the fashion expert on Netflix’s Emmy-winning reboot of Queer Eye, which premiered in 2018. Born and raised in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England, to Pakistani immigrant parents, France developed a passion for fashion at a young age. He worked in the fashion industry for over 15 years before his television breakthrough, gaining experience at companies like Zara, Selfridges, and Shade Clothing, and launching his own fashion brand, Kingdom and State.

Queer Eye transformed Tan France into an international style icon. On the show, he became known for his signature “French tuck” styling tip, which became a cultural phenomenon. The series earned multiple Emmy Awards and nominations, and France’s warm, relatable approach to fashion made him a favorite among viewers. Beyond Queer Eye, he hosted “Next in Fashion” on Netflix alongside Alexa Chung and later Gigi Hadid, further establishing himself as a major figure in fashion television.

France is also a bestselling author, having published “Naturally Tan” in 2019, a memoir exploring his experiences growing up as a gay, South Asian man in England and his journey to success. He has secured lucrative brand partnerships with major companies and has been featured in numerous fashion publications. In 2021, he and his husband Rob France welcomed their first child via surrogate, and their second child followed in 2023.
