Scottie Pippen

Scottie Maurice Pippen is a retired American professional basketball player who is widely considered one of the greatest small forwards in NBA history. Born in Hamburg, Arkansas, the youngest of 12 children, Pippen grew up in modest circumstances and walked on to the basketball team at the University of Central Arkansas. His remarkable athletic development during college caught the attention of NBA scouts, and he was drafted fifth overall by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 1987 NBA Draft before being immediately traded to the Chicago Bulls.

With the Bulls, Pippen formed one of the most iconic duos in sports history alongside Michael Jordan. Together, they led Chicago to six NBA championships in eight years (1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998). Pippen was named to seven All-Star teams, earned 10 All-Defensive selections, and was a member of the legendary 1992 United States Olympic ‘Dream Team.’ His versatile skill set, which included elite perimeter defense, playmaking, and the ability to guard multiple positions, made him an indispensable part of the Bulls dynasty.

After leaving Chicago, Pippen played for the Houston Rockets (1998-1999), Portland Trail Blazers (1999-2003), and returned briefly to the Bulls (2003-2004) before retiring. Over his 17-year career, he earned approximately $109 million in salary. However, Pippen’s post-career financial journey has been marked by both setbacks and recovery. He faced significant losses through poor real estate investments, a costly divorce, and legal disputes. His net worth dropped considerably from its peak during his playing days.
