Juanes

Juanes is one of the most influential Latin rock artists of his generation, known for blending Colombian folk music, rock, pop, and cumbia into a distinctive sound that has captivated audiences worldwide. Born in Carolina del Principe, Antioquia, Colombia, he began playing guitar at age seven, inspired by his father. In his teens, he co-founded the heavy metal band Ekhymosis, which became one of the most popular rock bands in Colombia during the 1990s, releasing five albums before disbanding in 1998.

After launching his solo career, Juanes released his debut album “Fijate Bien” in 2000, which won three Latin Grammy Awards, an unprecedented feat for a debut album at the time. His second album, “Un Dia Normal” (2002), catapulted him to international superstardom with hits like “A Dios le Pido,” “Fotografia” (a duet with Nelly Furtado), and “Es Por Ti.” The album sold over seven million copies worldwide and won five Latin Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year. His follow-up, “Mi Sangre” (2004), featuring the global hit “La Camisa Negra,” reached number one in multiple European countries and further cemented his international appeal.

Juanes has won 28 Latin Grammy Awards and three Grammy Awards over the course of his career, making him one of the most awarded Latin artists in history. He has sold over 20 million albums worldwide and his songs have become anthems across Latin America and beyond. His music often carries messages of peace, social justice, and love, reflecting his deep commitment to his homeland and its people. In 2006, he founded the Mi Sangre Foundation, dedicated to helping victims of anti-personnel mines in Colombia.

Beyond his musical achievements, Juanes is recognized as a cultural ambassador and humanitarian. He organized the historic “Peace Without Borders” concert in Havana, Cuba, in 2009, which attracted over one million attendees. He continues to tour extensively, release new music, and use his platform to advocate for peace and social change. His wealth reflects decades of platinum-selling albums, sold-out world tours, brand partnerships, and his enduring status as one of Latin music’s biggest stars.
