Josh Dun

Josh Dun is best known as the drummer and percussionist of the Grammy-winning duo Twenty One Pilots, alongside vocalist Tyler Joseph. Born on June 18, 1988, in Columbus, Ohio, Dun grew up in a large family and developed a passion for drumming at a young age, teaching himself to play by practicing along to songs in his bedroom. Before joining Twenty One Pilots in 2011, he briefly played drums for the band House of Heroes.

Twenty One Pilots rose to mainstream fame with their 2015 album “Blurryface,” which became the first album in the digital era to have every track certified gold or higher by the RIAA. The duo won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their massive hit “Stressed Out” in 2017. Their genre-blending sound, combining elements of alternative rock, hip hop, electronic music, and pop, resonated with a devoted global fanbase. Subsequent albums “Trench” (2018) and “Scaled and Icy” (2021) continued their commercial success.

Dun’s wealth has been built primarily through Twenty One Pilots’ record sales, streaming revenue, and highly profitable touring. The duo’s Bandito Tour and subsequent tours have consistently sold out arenas and festivals worldwide. In 2024, they released “Clancy,” which was supported by another large-scale world tour. Dun has also earned income through merchandise sales and brand partnerships.

Outside of music, Dun married actress Debby Ryan in December 2019. He is known for his athletic drumming style and his backflip off his drum kit during live performances. Dun has been open about his struggles with anxiety and has used his platform to advocate for mental health awareness alongside Joseph.
