Joanna Gaines

Joanna Gaines is an American television personality, interior designer, and entrepreneur who rose to fame through the hit HGTV show Fixer Upper. Born Joanna Lee Stevens in Wichita, Kansas, she is of Korean and German descent. She grew up in Texas and graduated from Baylor University in Waco with a degree in communications. It was during her time at Baylor that she met her future husband and business partner, Chip Gaines.

Joanna and Chip began their home renovation business, Magnolia Homes, in 2003. Their unique approach to transforming run-down properties into stunning dream homes caught the attention of HGTV producers, leading to the premiere of Fixer Upper in 2013. The show became a massive hit, running for five seasons and turning the Gaines family into household names. Joanna’s signature “modern farmhouse” design aesthetic became one of the most influential interior design trends in America.

The success of Fixer Upper spawned a vast business empire. The network has expanded their media presence significantly.
