Jesse Eisenberg

Jesse Eisenberg is an American actor, author, and playwright best known for his Academy Award-nominated portrayal of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in David Fincher’s The Social Network (2010). Born in East Brunswick, New Jersey, Eisenberg grew up in a Jewish family with roots in the arts. His mother, Amy, was a professional clown and his father, Barry, ran a hospital. He began acting at a young age and made his professional debut in the off-Broadway play The Gathering before landing his first film role in Roger Dodger (2002) at age 19.

Eisenberg’s breakout came with the comedy-horror film Zombieland (2009), followed immediately by The Social Network (2010), which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor and established him as one of the most distinctive actors of his generation. His portrayal of Zuckerberg as a brilliant, socially awkward genius became a defining performance of the 2010s.
