Matthew Macfadyen

Matthew Macfadyen is a distinguished British actor who gained widespread international recognition through his Emmy-winning role as Tom Wambsgans in HBO’s Succession. Born in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England, Macfadyen trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, one of the most prestigious acting schools in the world. His classical training provided a strong foundation for a career that has spanned theater, television, and film.

Macfadyen first gained prominence in British television with the BBC series Spooks (known as MI-5 in North America), in which he starred as MI5 officer Tom Quinn from 2002 to 2004. He then made a memorable transition to film with his portrayal of Mr. Darcy in the 2005 adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, opposite Keira Knightley.
