Thomas Rhett Akins Jr. is an American country music singer and songwriter who has become one of the most commercially successful artists in modern country music. Born on March 30, 1990, in Valdosta, Georgia, he is the son of country singer and songwriter Rhett Akins. Growing up surrounded by the Nashville music industry, Thomas Rhett developed a passion for songwriting at an early age, eventually signing a publishing deal with EMI and later a recording contract with Big Machine Records’ Valory Music imprint.
