Ariadna Thalia Sodi Miranda, known simply as Thalia, is a Mexican singer, songwriter, actress, and businesswoman who is widely regarded as the “Queen of Latin Pop.” Born on August 26, 1971, in Mexico City, Mexico, she began her entertainment career as a child, joining the children’s group Din-Din at age nine and later becoming a member of the pop group Timbiriche at age 15, one of the most popular Latin pop groups of the 1980s.

Thalia’s solo music career took off in the early 1990s with a string of hit albums including “Thalia” (1990), “Mundo de Cristal” (1991), and “Love” (1992). She became a global superstar with her telenovela roles in “Maria Mercedes” (1992), “Marimar” (1994), and “Maria la del Barrio” (1995), known collectively as the “Maria” trilogy. These telenovelas were broadcast in over 180 countries and made her one of the most recognized faces in Latin entertainment. In 2000, Thalia married music mogul Tommy Mottola, former chairman of Sony Music Entertainment, in a lavish ceremony at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. The couple has two children together.
