Shane Gillis

Shane Gillis is an American comedian and actor who has risen to become one of the most talked-about figures in stand-up comedy. Born in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, Gillis grew up in a working-class Irish-Catholic family and played football at West Chester University before pursuing comedy full-time. He cut his teeth in the Philadelphia comedy scene, quickly developing a reputation for his sharp, boundary-pushing humor.

Gillis gained national attention in September 2019 when he was announced as a new cast member on Saturday Night Live, only to be let go days later after past podcast clips containing controversial remarks surfaced. While the incident was a setback, Gillis channeled it into fuel for his stand-up career. He continued touring relentlessly and built a massive following through his podcast Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast, co-hosted with comedian Matt McCusker.
