Rebecca Hall is a British-American actress and filmmaker born on May 3, 1982, in London, England. She comes from a distinguished artistic family: her father was the legendary theater director Sir Peter Hall, founder of the Royal Shakespeare Company, and her mother is opera singer Maria Ewing. Growing up immersed in the performing arts, Hall made her professional stage debut at age ten and went on to study English at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, before pursuing acting full-time.
