Macklemore, born Benjamin Hammond Haggerty on June 19, 1983, in Seattle, Washington, is an American rapper and songwriter who rose to mainstream fame with his independently released music. He began his career in the early 2000s under the name Professor Macklemore, releasing his debut EP in 2000 and his first full-length album, The Language of My World, in 2005.
