Lucy Hale is an American actress and singer best known for her starring role as Aria Montgomery on the Freeform mystery-thriller series Pretty Little Liars (2010-2017). Born Karen Lucille Hale in Memphis, Tennessee, she first came to public attention as a contestant on the reality television singing competition American Juniors in 2003, where she finished in the top five.

After American Juniors, Hale transitioned to acting, appearing in television shows including Bionic Woman, Privileged, and How I Met Your Mother before landing the career-defining role of Aria on Pretty Little Liars.
