Lindsey Horan

Lindsey Michelle Horan is an American professional soccer player who has become one of the most influential midfielders in women’s football worldwide. Born in Golden, Colorado, Horan grew up playing for the Colorado Rush in the Elite Clubs National League and was one of the top recruits in the country. In a bold and unconventional move, she chose to skip college soccer entirely and signed directly with Paris Saint-Germain at the age of 18 in 2012, becoming one of the first American women to go directly to a top European club.

Horan spent four seasons with PSG, scoring prolifically and developing her game in the French Division 1 Feminine. She returned to the United States in 2016, joining the Portland Thorns FC in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). With the Thorns, she became one of the league’s most dominant players, winning the NWSL Championship in 2017 and earning the NWSL Most Valuable Player award in 2018. Her physicality, goal-scoring ability, and passing range made her a complete midfielder.

On the international stage, Horan has been a key member of the United States Women’s National Team. She earned her first cap in 2013 and has been a regular starter in the midfield. She was part of the squad that won the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, contributing both in the group stages and knockout rounds. She has also represented the U.S. at multiple SheBelieves Cup tournaments and other major international competitions.

In 2022, Horan moved to Olympique Lyonnais, one of the most successful clubs in European women’s football, on loan from the Thorns before making the move permanent. With Lyon, she has competed in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and continued to add to her trophy collection. Her endorsement portfolio includes partnerships with Nike and other sports brands, and she remains one of the most respected players in women’s soccer globally.
