Lil Uzi Vert

Symere Bysil Woods, known professionally as Lil Uzi Vert, was born on July 31, 1994, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Raised in the Francisville neighborhood of North Philadelphia, Uzi developed an interest in rap as a teenager, drawing influence from Marilyn Manson, Pharrell Williams, and Kanye West. After dropping out of school and briefly working various jobs, he began freestyling with friends and formed the rap group Steaktown before pursuing a solo career.

Lil Uzi Vert’s breakthrough came with the 2015 mixtape “Luv Is Rage,” which caught the attention of DJ Drama’s Generation Now label and Atlantic Records. The 2016 single “Money Longer” from “Lil Uzi Vert vs. the World” established him as a rising star in hip-hop, and his feature on Migos’ “Bad and Boujee” (which topped the Billboard Hot 100) further boosted his profile. His debut studio album, “Luv Is Rage 2” (2017), debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, powered by the massive hit “XO Tour Llif3,” which reached number seven on the Hot 100 and has been streamed billions of times across platforms.

After a prolonged delay and public disputes with his label, Uzi released “Eternal Atake” in March 2020 to massive commercial success, debuting at number one with over 288,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. The surprise deluxe edition, “Lil Uzi Vert vs. the World 2,” followed just a week later and also debuted at number one. His 2023 album “Pink Tape” continued his commercial success, debuting at number one and featuring the hit single “Just Wanna Rock.”

Uzi is known for an eccentric personality and lavish spending habits that reflect emo and punk influences rare in mainstream hip-hop. In 2021, he famously had a $24 million pink diamond implanted in his forehead, which he later removed. His fashion sense, blending high fashion with punk aesthetics, has made him a style icon among younger fans. Despite his extravagant image, his streaming numbers and touring revenue have built a solid financial foundation.
