Don Omar

Don Omar is a Puerto Rican reggaeton singer, songwriter, and actor who is widely regarded as one of the pioneers and kings of reggaeton. Born William Omar Landron Rivera in Carolina, Puerto Rico, he initially pursued a path in the church before turning to music. His transition from gospel to reggaeton would prove transformative not only for his own career but for the entire genre, as he became one of the artists most responsible for bringing reggaeton to the global mainstream.

Don Omar’s breakthrough came with his 2003 album ‘The Last Don,’ which became the highest-selling reggaeton album at the time. He followed it with continued success, releasing hit after hit including ‘Dile,’ ‘Reggaeton Latino,’ ‘Angelito,’ and ‘Taboo.’ His 2006 album ‘King of Kings’ debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, a historic achievement for a reggaeton artist. In addition to music, Don Omar expanded into acting, starring in several films including ‘Fast Five’ (2011) and ‘The Fate of the Furious’ (2017) as part of the massively successful ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise. His song ‘Danza Kuduro’ with Lucenzo became one of the best-selling digital singles of all time, with over 1 billion YouTube views.
