DK Metcalf

DK Metcalf is an American professional football wide receiver who plays in the National Football League. Born in Oxford, Mississippi, Metcalf comes from an athletic family with deep football roots: his father Terrence Metcalf played offensive lineman in the NFL for the Chicago Bears. DK attended Oxford High School where he was a standout multi-sport athlete before committing to play college football at the University of Mississippi, following in his father’s footsteps as an Ole Miss Rebel.

Metcalf’s college career at Ole Miss was hampered by injuries, including a neck injury that required surgery and limited his playing time. Despite the setbacks, his freakish athleticism was undeniable. At the 2019 NFL Combine, Metcalf delivered one of the most memorable performances in combine history, running a 4.33-second 40-yard dash at 228 pounds while posting extraordinary measurements in the vertical jump and broad jump. His combine performance went viral, though some scouts still questioned his route-running ability, causing him to fall to the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft where the Seattle Seahawks selected him.

Metcalf immediately made an impact in Seattle, becoming one of Russell Wilson’s primary targets and establishing himself as one of the most physically dominant receivers in the NFL. His combination of elite size, speed, and strength made him virtually unstoppable in contested catch situations and after the catch. He set multiple franchise records for the Seahawks and earned Pro Bowl selections, becoming one of the league’s most feared deep threats and red zone weapons.

In 2022, Metcalf signed a three-year contract extension with the Seahawks worth $72 million, making him one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL at the time.
