Carlos Correa

Carlos Javier Correa is a Puerto Rican professional baseball shortstop who has established himself as one of the premier players in Major League Baseball. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Correa was selected first overall by the Houston Astros in the 2012 MLB Draft, making him the first Puerto Rican player to be drafted number one. He quickly rose through the minor league system and made his MLB debut in 2015, winning the American League Rookie of the Year Award after hitting .279 with 22 home runs.

Correa played a central role in the Astros’ success during his tenure with the team from 2015 to 2021. He was a key contributor to their 2017 World Series championship and helped the team reach the postseason multiple times.
