Candace Parker

Candace Parker is a trailblazing figure in women’s basketball who dominated the sport for nearly two decades before transitioning into a celebrated broadcasting career. Born on April 19, 1986, in St. Louis, Missouri, she grew up in Naperville, Illinois, in a family of athletes. Her brother Anthony Parker played in the NBA, and her father Larry Parker played college basketball. At Naperville Central High School, Parker became the first woman to dunk in a high school game, foreshadowing the athleticism that would define her career.

Parker attended the University of Tennessee, where she played under legendary coach Pat Summitt. She won back-to-back NCAA championships in 2007 and 2008, earning the Most Outstanding Player award both times.
