Awkwafina, born Nora Lum, is an American actress, rapper, and comedian who rose from viral internet fame to become one of Hollywood’s most in-demand talents. Born and raised in the Stony Brook neighborhood of Queens, New York, she is of Chinese and Korean descent. She was raised primarily by her paternal grandmother and father after her mother passed away when she was young. She attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts and later graduated from the State University of New York at Albany.
