Alex Borstein is a multi-talented American actress, voice actress, comedian, writer, and producer who has achieved remarkable success across multiple areas of entertainment. Born on February 15, 1971, in Highland Park, Illinois, Borstein grew up in a Jewish family of Hungarian descent. She studied rhetoric at San Francisco State University and began her comedy career performing with the improvisational comedy troupe ACME Comedy Theatre in Los Angeles.

Borstein first rose to prominence as a cast member on the sketch comedy series “MADtv” from 1997 to 2009, where she created memorable characters and showcased her comedic range. During this period, she also began her iconic role as the voice of Lois Griffin on “Family Guy,” which debuted in 1999.
