Anthony Kiedis

Anthony Kiedis is an American singer, songwriter, and musician who co-founded the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1983, one of the best-selling and most influential rock bands of all time. Born on November 1, 1962, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kiedis moved to Los Angeles as a teenager to live with his father, Blackie Dammett, an aspiring actor. Growing up in Hollywood exposed him to the entertainment industry and the vibrant LA music scene, where he befriended future bandmates Flea, Hillel Slovak, and Jack Irons.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers became pioneers of the funk rock and alternative rock genres, blending funk, punk, psychedelic rock, and rap into a unique sound. The band achieved massive commercial success with albums like “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” (1991), “Californication” (1999), “By the Way” (2002), and “Stadium Arcadium” (2006). Hit songs including “Under the Bridge,” “Californication,” “Scar Tissue,” “By the Way,” and “Dani California” became rock anthems. The band has sold over 120 million records worldwide.

Kiedis has navigated significant personal challenges throughout his life, including well-documented struggles with substance abuse. His 2004 autobiography “Scar Tissue” became a bestseller and offered a candid look at his life and battles with addiction. The reunion of guitarist John Frusciante in 2019 reinvigorated the band, leading to the release of “Unlimited Love” (2022) and “Return of the Dream Canteen” (2022), both of which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The accompanying world tours sold out stadiums globally, generating hundreds of millions in revenue and significantly boosting Kiedis’s already substantial fortune.
