Suga

Suga, born Min Yoon-gi, is a South Korean rapper, songwriter, and record producer best known as a member of the global K-pop group BTS. Born in Daegu, South Korea, he developed a passion for music at a young age, learning to compose and produce songs on his own while still in middle school. Before joining Big Hit Entertainment, he was active in Daegu’s underground rap scene under the name Gloss. Despite his family’s initial opposition to a music career, his talent and determination led him to become one of K-pop’s most respected artists.

As a member of BTS since their 2013 debut, Suga has been integral to the group’s sound and success. He serves as the group’s lead rapper alongside RM and J-Hope, and is one of the primary producers behind BTS’s music. His production work extends beyond BTS, as he has produced and written songs for other artists under his producer alias Agust D (his stage name spelled backwards plus “DT” for his hometown Daegu Town). His production credits span a wide range of artists, and he has been praised for his honest, often raw lyrics about topics including mental health, social commentary, and the struggles of youth in South Korea.

He completed his mandatory South Korean military service as a social service agent due to a shoulder injury sustained before his debut. Beyond music, Suga has endorsement deals with major brands and is known for his reserved personality that contrasts with his intense stage presence.
