Nazanin Boniadi

Nazanin Boniadi is an Iranian-British actress and human rights activist who has appeared in several major productions dealing with Middle Eastern themes and the war on terror. Her role as Fara Sherazi in Homeland (2013-2015) brought her significant attention, playing a CIA analyst of Iranian descent who navigates cultural identity while fighting terrorism.

Born in Tehran, Iran, Boniadi’s family fled the Iranian Revolution when she was one month old and settled in London. She later moved to the United States, where she studied biochemistry at the University of California, Irvine before pursuing acting. Her scientific background and personal experience of fleeing political persecution inform her choice of roles.

In Homeland, Boniadi’s character Fara Sherazi represents the complex position of Iranian-Americans working in national security. Her storyline explored themes of loyalty, identity, and sacrifice. She later appeared in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022) as Bronwyn, demonstrating her range beyond political thrillers.
