Tramell Tillman is an American actor who made television history at the 2025 Emmy Awards as the first Black actor and first openly gay actor to win Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. His chilling yet layered portrayal of Seth Milchick in Apple TV+’s Severance has made him one of the most compelling character actors working today.
Born and raised in New York, Tillman trained extensively in theater before transitioning to screen work. He spent years building his craft on stage before landing what would become his career-defining role in Severance.
In Severance, Tillman plays Milchick, the unsettlingly cheerful middle manager at Lumon Industries who oversees the “severed” employees. His ability to make Milchick simultaneously sinister and sympathetic—a company man whose forced enthusiasm masks something darker—has earned universal critical acclaim.
Tillman’s historic Emmy win in September 2025 represented a breakthrough moment for representation in prestige television drama. Beyond Severance, he has expanded his film career with roles in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (2025) and Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026).
