Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is a Jamaican sprinter who is widely regarded as one of the greatest female sprinters in the history of track and field. Born on December 27, 1986, in Kingston, Jamaica, Fraser-Pryce grew up in the Waterhouse community, one of the most underprivileged areas of the capital city. Despite limited resources, she showed exceptional athletic talent from a young age and earned a scholarship to attend Wolmer’s High School, where her sprinting career began to flourish.

Fraser-Pryce burst onto the world stage at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where she won the gold medal in the 100 meters, becoming the first Caribbean woman to win an Olympic gold in the event. She successfully defended her title at the 2012 London Olympics, joining an elite group of sprinters to win back-to-back Olympic 100-meter titles.
