Sabrina Ionescu

Sabrina Ionescu is an American professional basketball player who has become one of the most prominent figures in the WNBA and a driving force in the growth of women’s basketball. Born on December 6, 1997, in Walnut Creek, California, to Romanian immigrant parents, Ionescu showed extraordinary basketball talent from a young age. She attended Miramonte High School in Orinda, California, where she became one of the most recruited players in the country before committing to the University of Oregon.

At Oregon, Ionescu rewrote the NCAA record books. She became the first player in NCAA history, male or female, to accumulate 2,000 points, 1,000 assists, and 1,000 rebounds in a career. She won the John R. Wooden Award as the nation’s best player and led Oregon to unprecedented success, including the program’s first Final Four appearance.
