Singer, Songwriter, Producer | British
La Roux is the musical project of English singer, songwriter, and synth player Elly Jackson. Originally a duo with producer Ben Langmaid, it has since become Jackson’s solo project. Known for her distinctive androgynous style and powerful soprano voice, Jackson brought 1980s synth-pop into the modern era.
Their debut album “La Roux” (2009) produced massive hits including “In for the Kill” and “Bulletproof,” the latter becoming a worldwide smash. The album won the Grammy for Best Electronic/Dance Album and established Jackson as a major new voice in pop music.
After a hiatus, Jackson returned with “Trouble in Paradise” (2014) and “Supervision” (2020), continuing to explore her signature synth-driven sound while evolving artistically. Her influence on the synth-pop revival of the 2000s and 2010s is undeniable.
