Kygo

Kygo, born Kyrre Gorvell-Dahll, is a Norwegian DJ, record producer, and songwriter who pioneered the tropical house genre and became one of the youngest artists to reach one billion streams on Spotify. Born in Singapore to Norwegian parents, he grew up in Bergen, Norway, where he began playing piano at age six. He studied business and finance at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh before music took over his life.

Kygo rose to international fame through his remixes on SoundCloud, particularly his remix of Ed Sheeran’s I See Fire, which went viral in 2013. His original singles Firestone (featuring Conrad Sewell) and Stole the Show (featuring Parson James) became global hits, and by 2015, he was the fastest artist to reach one billion streams on Spotify. His debut album Cloud Nine was released in 2016 and featured collaborations with Selena Gomez, John Legend, and Tom Odell.

His career reached a historic milestone when he performed at the closing ceremony of the 2016 Rio Olympics, becoming one of the youngest artists to perform at an Olympic ceremony. He has continued to release chart-topping music, including the hits It Ain’t Me (with Selena Gomez), Higher Love (a posthumous collaboration with Whitney Houston), and Lose Somebody (with OneRepublic). His second and third albums, Golden Hour (2020) and Thrill of the Chase (2022), further cemented his position as one of the top electronic artists in the world.
