Jin

Jin, born Kim Seok-jin on December 4, 1992, in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, is a singer, songwriter, and the eldest member of BTS, the record-breaking K-pop group. He was originally studying acting at Konkuk University when he was scouted by a Big Hit Entertainment talent agent on the street and persuaded to audition. He joined the company as a trainee and debuted with BTS in 2013, quickly becoming known for his powerful vocals, visual appeal, and warm sense of humor.

As a vocalist in BTS, Jin has delivered some of the group’s most beloved performances. His solo songs within BTS’s albums, including “Awake,” “Epiphany,” “Moon,” and “Yours,” have showcased his emotional vocal range and have become fan favorites. He released the solo single “The Astronaut” in 2022, co-written with Coldplay, which charted globally and demonstrated his mainstream solo appeal. Jin is often affectionately referred to as “Worldwide Handsome” by fans and the media, a nickname he coined himself.

Jin was the first BTS member to begin mandatory military service, enlisting in December 2022. He completed his 18 months of service and was discharged in June 2024, becoming the first member to return from the military. His discharge generated massive media attention and fan celebrations worldwide. Following his return, he resumed solo and group activities, releasing new music and appearing in variety shows and promotional events.
