Devin Booker

Devin Booker is an American professional basketball player who has risen to become one of the NBA’s premier scorers and a franchise cornerstone of the Phoenix Suns. Born on October 30, 1996, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Booker grew up around basketball as the son of Melvin Booker, who played professionally overseas and briefly in the NBA. Devin attended Moss Point High School in Mississippi before transferring to Grandview Preparatory School in Arizona and ultimately playing his high school ball at Moss Point, where he was a McDonald’s All-American.

Booker played one season at the University of Kentucky under coach John Calipari, where he was part of a stacked roster that included Karl-Anthony Towns and Trey Lyles. Despite coming off the bench for much of the season, Booker showed flashes of his scoring brilliance. He was selected 13th overall by the Phoenix Suns in the 2015 NBA Draft and quickly proved he was taken too late, as he developed into one of the most prolific scorers in league history. In 2017, at just 20 years old, he scored 70 points against the Boston Celtics, becoming the youngest player to reach that milestone.

Booker’s game evolved from pure scoring to all-around excellence as he matured. He led the Phoenix Suns to the 2021 NBA Finals, where they lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in six games. He has been selected as an NBA All-Star multiple times and won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2024 Paris Olympics. His ability to score from all three levels, combined with improved playmaking and defensive effort, has made him one of the most complete guards in the NBA.

He signed a supermax contract extension with the Suns worth over $224 million, making him one of the highest-paid players in NBA history.
