Chris Pratt is an American actor who transformed from a lovable sitcom star into one of the highest-grossing action heroes in Hollywood history. Born in Virginia, Minnesota, and raised in Lake Stevens, Washington, Pratt had a modest upbringing and was famously living in a van in Maui, Hawaii, when he was discovered by actress and director Rae Dawn Chong, who cast him in her short film “Cursed Part 3” (2000). This chance encounter launched a career that would eventually make him one of the most bankable stars in the world.

Pratt first became widely known for his role as the lovable, not-so-bright Andy Dwyer on NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” (2009-2015). While the show earned him a devoted fanbase, it was his dramatic physical transformation and casting as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014) that catapulted him to A-list status. Pratt’s dual franchise status made him one of Hollywood’s most valuable properties.
