Byeon Woo-seok is a South Korean actor and model who became a global phenomenon following the massive success of the K-drama Lovely Runner (2024). Born in Seoul, he initially pursued modeling before transitioning to acting, making his debut in the 2016 drama Dear My Friends.
Byeon spent years building his career through supporting roles in dramas including Record of Youth (2020) and Strong Girl Nam-soon (2023). His film debut came with Netflix’s 20th Century Girl (2022), which showcased his romantic leading man potential.
Everything changed with Lovely Runner (2024), where his portrayal of Ryu Sun-jae captivated audiences worldwide. The drama’s success earned him the affectionate title “Nation’s Boyfriend” in South Korea and multiple Asia Artist Awards including Best Actor of the Year (Daesang). His emotional depth and romantic chemistry made him an overnight international sensation.
In 2025, Netflix announced Byeon would star as Sung Jin-woo in the live-action adaptation of the globally popular webtoon Solo Leveling. He also demonstrated his philanthropy by donating ₩200 million (approximately $150,000) to Korean charities in January 2026, supporting pediatric patients and underprivileged female adolescents.
