Britt Lower is an American actress who won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her dual performance in Apple TV+’s Severance. Her portrayal of Helly R. and her “outie” Helena Eagan has been praised as one of the most complex performances in modern television.

Born in Burnsville, Minnesota, Lower studied at the University of Southern California before beginning her acting career. She appeared in numerous television series including Unforgettable, Halt and Catch Fire, and Man Seeking Woman before landing her breakthrough role.

In Severance, Lower plays both the rebellious “innie” Helly R., a severed employee fighting against Lumon’s control, and her “outie” Helena Eagan, the privileged daughter of Lumon’s CEO. The demanding dual role required her to portray two completely different personalities, often within the same episode.
