Alex Morgan

Alex Morgan is one of the most recognizable and accomplished figures in women’s soccer history. A prolific striker for the United States Women’s National Team, Morgan played a pivotal role in some of the team’s greatest triumphs over the past decade. She was a key player in the USWNT’s 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup victories, scoring the semifinal-winning goal against England in 2019 that became one of the most iconic moments in women’s soccer.

Morgan’s club career spanned multiple leagues and continents. She played in the NWSL for the Portland Thorns, Orlando Pride, and San Diego Wave, and had a stint with Olympique Lyonnais in France and Tottenham Hotspur in England. Her time with the San Diego Wave as a founding player helped establish the expansion franchise. She announced her retirement from professional soccer in September 2024 after a career that included over 120 international goals.

Beyond the pitch, Morgan built a substantial brand through endorsement deals and business ventures. She has been sponsored by Nike, Coca-Cola, AT&T, and numerous other major brands. She co-founded Togethxr, a media company focused on women’s sports, alongside Sue Bird, Chloe Kim, and Simone Manuel. She also authored a children’s book series called ‘The Kicks,’ which was adapted into an Amazon TV series.

Morgan was also a prominent voice in the fight for equal pay in women’s sports. She was one of the named plaintiffs in the USWNT’s landmark gender discrimination lawsuit against U.S. Soccer, which resulted in a historic settlement in 2022 that equalized pay between the men’s and women’s national teams. Her advocacy both on and off the field cemented her legacy as one of the most influential athletes in women’s sports history.
