Amy Schumer is an American actress, comedian, writer, and producer born on June 1, 1981, in Manhattan, New York City. She grew up on the Upper East Side before her family moved to Long Island. She graduated from the Hebrew School of Long Island and later earned a degree in theater from Towson University in Maryland. Schumer began performing stand-up comedy in the early 2000s and gained her first taste of national exposure as a contestant on the fifth season of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” in 2007.
