Ben Platt, born Benjamin Schiff Platt on September 24, 1993, in Los Angeles, California, is an American actor, singer, and songwriter who rose to stardom through his Tony Award-winning performance in the title role of Dear Evan Hansen. Born into an entertainment family — his father, Marc Platt, is a prominent film and theater producer — Ben developed a passion for performing at a young age. He made his professional debut at age nine in a production of The Music Man at the Hollywood Bowl and went on to study at Columbia University before fully committing to his performing career.
