Colin Jost

Colin Jost is an American comedian, writer, and actor best known as the co-anchor of Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live alongside Michael Che. Born on June 29, 1982, on Staten Island, New York, Jost grew up in a family that valued education and humor. He attended Regis High School in Manhattan and went on to graduate from Harvard University, where he was president of the Harvard Lampoon, the university’s legendary comedy publication.

Jost joined the writing staff of Saturday Night Live in 2005, just a year after graduating from Harvard. He steadily rose through the ranks, becoming a writing supervisor and eventually co-head writer of the show. In 2014, he was named co-anchor of Weekend Update, replacing Seth Meyers, and has held the position ever since. His dry wit, sharp writing, and ability to deliver topical comedy have made Weekend Update one of the most consistently popular segments on the show.

Beyond SNL, Jost has built a multifaceted career. He published his memoir “A Very Punchable Face” in 2020, which became a New York Times bestseller. He has written for and appeared in several films, including co-writing the screenplay for “Staten Island Summer” (2015). He co-hosted the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2018 with Michael Che and has made appearances in Marvel’s “Tom and Jerry” and other productions. His writing talent extends beyond comedy, as his book received praise for its candid and humorous observations about growing up on Staten Island.

Jost married actress Scarlett Johansson in October 2020, making them one of Hollywood’s most high-profile couples. They have a son together named Cosmo.
