David Tennant

David Tennant is a Scottish actor widely regarded as one of the finest performers of his generation, known for his extraordinary range across television, film, theater, and voice work. Born David John McDonald on April 18, 1971, in Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland, he decided to become an actor at age three after watching Doctor Who. He attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and adopted the stage name Tennant early in his career.

Tennant worked extensively in Scottish and British television and theater throughout the 1990s before his career-defining role as the Tenth Doctor in BBC’s Doctor Who (2005-2010).
