Rainn Wilson

Rainn Wilson is an American actor, producer, and writer best known for his iconic portrayal of Dwight Schrute in the NBC comedy series The Office (2005-2013). Born in Seattle, Washington, Wilson had an unconventional upbringing, spending part of his childhood in Nicaragua where his father worked. He studied acting at the University of Washington and later earned his MFA from New York University’s Graduate Acting Program at the Tisch School of the Arts, which prepared him for a career that would span theater, film, and television.

He also pursued his passion for writing and spirituality, co-founding the media company SoulPancake, which creates content focused on meaningful conversations and positive social change. He authored the memoir The Bassoon King in 2015 and has been active on social media with his advocacy for environmental and social causes.
