Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns is one of the biggest stars in professional wrestling history and the cornerstone of WWE’s modern era. Born Leati Joseph Anoa’i on May 25, 1985, in Pensacola, Florida, he comes from the legendary Anoa’i wrestling family, which includes Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Yokozuna, Rikishi, The Usos, and many others. Before entering wrestling, Reigns played college football at Georgia Tech as a defensive tackle and had a brief stint in the Canadian Football League with the Edmonton Elks.

Reigns signed with WWE in 2010 and debuted on the main roster in 2012 as part of The Shield, a dominant three-man faction alongside Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. The Shield became one of the most popular groups in modern wrestling history, and after the faction disbanded, Reigns was positioned as the company’s top babyface. He headlined WrestleMania multiple times, including four consecutive WrestleMania main events, a feat that underscored WWE’s investment in him as the face of the company.

In 2020, Reigns reinvented himself as the villainous ‘Tribal Chief,’ a character that is widely regarded as one of the greatest heel turns and character transformations in wrestling history. He held the Universal Championship for over 1,300 days in one of the longest world title reigns in modern WWE history. This run, combined with compelling storylines involving his cousins The Usos and other family members, elevated him to a level of mainstream recognition that few wrestlers have achieved in the modern era.

Reigns’ battle with leukemia, which he first disclosed publicly in 2018 and overcame to return to the ring, added a deeply personal dimension to his story and earned him widespread admiration. His merchandise sales, pay-per-view main events, and overall drawing power have made him one of the highest-paid wrestlers in WWE. He has also appeared in films including Hobbs and Shaw alongside Dwayne Johnson. His Bloodline storyline is considered one of the most compelling long-term narratives in wrestling history.
