Prince Royce is an American singer and songwriter of Dominican descent who has become one of the most successful bachata artists of his generation. Born Geoffrey Royce Rojas on May 11, 1989, in The Bronx, New York, he grew up in a Dominican household where bachata, merengue, and salsa were the soundtrack of daily life. He began writing poetry as a child, which later evolved into songwriting, and started pursuing music seriously as a teenager, recording his early songs in home studios.

Royce’s self-titled debut album, released in 2010, was a revelation in the bachata world. The album produced the hit singles “Stand by Me,” a bachata reimagining of the Ben E. King classic, and “Corazon Sin Cara,” both of which topped the Billboard Tropical Songs chart.
