Busy Philipps is an American actress, writer, and television host best known for her roles in Freaks and Geeks, Dawson’s Creek, and Cougar Town. Born Elizabeth Jean Philipps in Oak Park, Illinois, she earned the nickname Busy as a child due to her energetic personality. She studied at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, where she began pursuing acting professionally.

Philipps got her start in the beloved but short-lived NBC series Freaks and Geeks in 1999, playing Kim Kelly in the cult classic created by Paul Feig and produced by Judd Apatow. She followed this with a recurring role on Dawson’s Creek as Audrey Liddell. Her most substantial television role came as Laurie Keller on the ABC comedy Cougar Town, which ran from 2009 to 2015 alongside Courteney Cox.
