Paul Wesley

Paul Wesley is an American actor, producer, and director of Polish descent, best known for his role as Stefan Salvatore on The CW’s hit vampire drama “The Vampire Diaries.” Born Pawel Tomasz Wasilewski in New Brunswick, New Jersey, to Polish immigrant parents, he grew up in Marlboro Township and began acting in his teens. He studied at Rutgers University before leaving to pursue acting full-time, landing early roles on soap operas including “Guiding Light” and series like “Smallville” and “Army Wives.”

Wesley’s career-defining role came in 2009 when he was cast as Stefan Salvatore, the brooding and noble vampire at the center of “The Vampire Diaries.” The show, based on L.J. Smith’s book series, became a massive hit for The CW and ran for eight seasons until 2017. Wesley’s portrayal of Stefan earned him a devoted international fanbase, and the show spawned two successful spinoffs, “The Originals” and “Legacies.” During the show’s run, he also began directing episodes, further developing his skills behind the camera.

After The Vampire Diaries, Wesley sought to diversify his career. He starred in and produced the CBS All Access (now Paramount+) series “Tell Me a Story” and took on the role of Captain James T. Kirk in “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” on Paramount+, introducing him to the massive Star Trek fanbase. His portrayal of the young Kirk was well-received by both long-time Trekkies and new viewers, proving his ability to take on iconic roles.

Wesley has also ventured into business, co-founding Brother’s Bond Bourbon with his Vampire Diaries co-star Ian Somerhalder. The bourbon brand has been commercially successful, leveraging their combined fanbases and social media reach. His income streams include acting salaries, directing fees, producing credits, convention appearances, and his spirits business. He has also invested in real estate and continues to build his production portfolio.
