Jennie Kim, known mononymously as Jennie, is a South Korean singer, rapper, and fashion icon who rose to global fame as a member of BLACKPINK, one of the most successful girl groups in music history. Born in Seoul, South Korea, she spent several years studying in Auckland, New Zealand, during her childhood, which gave her fluency in English and Korean. She was recruited by YG Entertainment as a trainee in 2010 at the age of 14 and trained for six years before debuting with BLACKPINK in August 2016.
