Rachel Lindsay

Rachel Lindsay is an American television personality, attorney, and media host who made history as the first Black lead of The Bachelorette in 2017. Born on April 21, 1985, in Dallas, Texas, Lindsay grew up in a prominent family — her father Sam A. Lindsay is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her law degree from Marquette University Law School, going on to practice civil defense litigation in Dallas before entering the world of reality television.

Lindsay first appeared on Season 21 of The Bachelor in 2017 with Nick Viall before being selected as the lead of The Bachelorette Season 13. Her season was groundbreaking and drew significant media attention as the franchise’s first Black lead in its then-15-year history. She chose Bryan Abasolo in the finale, and they married in August 2019 in Cancun, Mexico.
