Jean Smart

Jean Smart is an Emmy Award-winning American actress whose career spans more than four decades across television, film, and theater. Born in Seattle, Washington, she studied at the University of Washington’s Professional Actors Training Program before launching her career on the stage. Smart’s early work included regional theater productions and small television roles before she landed her breakthrough part as Charlene Frazier Stillfield on the CBS sitcom Designing Women, which ran from 1986 to 1991 and made her a household name.
