Miley Ray Cyrus is an American singer, songwriter, and actress who has been a prominent figure in entertainment since childhood. Born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992, in Franklin, Tennessee, she is the daughter of country music singer Billy Ray Cyrus. She earned the nickname “Smiley,” later shortened to “Miley,” due to her cheerful demeanor as a baby, and legally changed her name in 2008. She began acting as a child, appearing in her father’s television show Doc and the Tim Burton film Big Fish before landing the title role in the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana in 2006.

Hannah Montana became a cultural phenomenon, running for four seasons from 2006 to 2011 and spawning a merchandise empire, concert tours, and a feature film.
