Vincent D’Onofrio is an American actor and producer known for his transformative performances and commitment to fully inhabiting his characters. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he gained 70 pounds to play Private Leonard “Gomer Pyle” Lawrence in Full Metal Jacket (1987), establishing his reputation for physical dedication.
D’Onofrio has built a diverse career spanning film, television, and theater. Notable films include Men in Black (1997), The Cell (2000), and Jurassic World (2015). His most enduring television role was Detective Robert Goren in Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2001-2011), where he appeared in over 140 episodes.
His career experienced a renaissance when he was cast as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in Netflix’s Daredevil (2015-2018). His towering, terrifying, yet deeply human portrayal became the gold standard for Marvel villains.
