Carey Mulligan is a British actress known for her nuanced performances in both independent films and major productions. Born in London, she grew up partially in Germany due to her father’s work as a hotel manager. She began acting in school plays and made her professional debut in the 2005 Pride & Prejudice.
Mulligan’s breakthrough came with her BAFTA-winning performance in An Education (2009), which also earned her an Academy Award nomination. She has since built an impressive filmography including Drive (2011), The Great Gatsby (2013), Far from the Madding Crowd (2015), and Wildlife (2018).
